Our Story

Hello, I’m Layla — florist, mother of two, and born and raised in the beautiful Irfon Valley in Mid Wales.

Apparently, I had always told my friends that I wanted to be a florist. Perhaps it was fate, although I don’t remember having a particularly wild connection to flowers when I was younger. We had a vegetable patch, chickens, and the most beautiful countryside on our doorstep, so perhaps the foundations were there all along. I just didn’t know it at the time!

I’ve now spent 16 years working with flowers, from working in florists and styling homes, to window dressing and running my own flower shop. These days I work from my studio, which feels like a lovely place to have landed — although I’m not sure “landed” is quite the right word when there are usually buckets of flowers everywhere.

Over the years, I’ve realised that flowers are just one part of a much bigger creative world for me. I have a slightly obsessive love of nature, art, music, fashion and film, and somehow they all seem to find their way into my work.

I love the relationship between flowers and fashion — the shapes, textures, colours and unexpected combinations. I love creating installations and watching flowers transform a space, whether that’s something wild and abundant or something a little more considered. I’m interested in the feeling a space can give you, rather than simply making it look pretty.

Creativity has always felt less like something I decided to do and more like something that has followed me around. It’s probably running through my veins somewhere. I’m constantly noticing things — a colour combination in a shop window, the way light falls through the trees, a beautiful fabric, an old song, a strange-shaped flower growing by the roadside. My brain doesn’t seem to have an off switch for it.

I’m also drawn to videography and capturing the little moments around flowers and nature — the movement, the light, the seasons and all the beautiful imperfections. I love that flowers are fleeting. They change, they age, they open, they collapse and eventually disappear. There’s something quite wonderful about that.

For me, floristry brings all of these things together. Nature, creativity, fashion, art, music, storytelling — and a healthy amount of getting my hands dirty.

I suppose I never really chose flowers. Somehow, they chose me.
